5 Interesting Places to visit in Bowie, MD

Spring is upon us and in a few weeks the schools will be close for spring break. While some children will go to spring camp, some will be at home. Here are some interesting places to visit during the spring break, summer break or anytime if you live in Bowie, moving to Bowie or visiting Bowie.


1.Prince George's Stadium home of the Bowie Baysox Minor league team in Bowie. There are so many events going on at the stadium weekly. Be sure to check the special events and program for kids.

2.Allen Pond Park: This park features 85 acres with many attractions and large amphitheatre, many walking trails, play grounds, skate park , picnic tables,  boat rentals. Take the children  out for a picnic, enjoy nature, walk on trails and bring some bread crumbs to feed the ducks.

3.Belair Mansion museum is one of many museums located within Bowie city limits and admission to these museums are free. This mansion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1745 by  Governor Samuel Ogle it offers a look at life in Bowie in the 1700's . There is always planned activity at the mansion for children and adult alike. A little history lesson for spring break be sure to check the schedule for list of activities.

4.Belair Stable Museum: Located just few minutes from Belair Mansion, with legacy of horse racing in the 1900's . The stable is home to many champion horses. Check out the many uses of the stables through the years. Many activities are schedule in the museum throughout the year.

5. Bowie Railroad Museum: A planned railroad from Baltimore to Southern Maryland with stop at Bowie station in 1872. The stop at Bowie was a busy stop till 1989 when it was closed and a new station was built at Bowie State University. The city of Bowie restored the old railroad stop and rightly named Bowie Railroad Museum. The museum is part of the many amenities in Bowie for residents. Visit to the museum is free with many planned activities throughout the year.
