Do open houses sell homes? We get request from home owners
all the time to have an open house and many ForSaleByOwners seem to think open houses will help sell their
house. Before answering the question,
here are recent statistics from National
Association of Realtors based on the profile of buyers and sellers for 2014:

92% of home buyers use the internet for their
home search

Typically, buyers search for 10 weeks and viewed
10 homes before deciding on a house
·
88% of buyers purchased their home through real
estate agent.
To answer the question, no open houses does not sell houses,
however it can be use as part of the comprehensive market plan to sell a house.
Before deciding to do open house, there are a couple of things that sellers and
agents need to do to have a successful open house:

First, make sure the house is priced right. Get a detailed home estimator for your house

Over priced house will only attract nosy neighbors
and not potential buyers. If possible, stage the home, removing personal items.
This is part of the overall marketing plan. Buyers need to see themselves in
the house, not the seller’s personal items.

to advertise open house are Facebook, Craigslist, local Newspapers and many
more. Put up open house signs 3 to 4 days before the open house, as many as
possible as permitted within the jurisdiction law.

Send letters or email to surrounding neighbors
inviting them and asking if they know anyone that want to move to the
neighborhood.
